Missionary morris

Belfagan are especially good at taking morris out into the community. Over the last few years we have done events locally ranging from carnivals and church garden parties through workshops for non-dancers:  a hen night; work with school children; an internationa lady bikers' event;  a noverlists' weekend; and on, to regional events at Beamish Museum, Rheged, and the Hartlepool Maritime Museum. We always make efforts to involve our audience, very often concluding our performance with some of them participating in Greenham.

We have been to Cockermouth's French twin town, Marvejols, four times in the last 30 years, and received visits from dancers from there.

Belfagan have been a regular feature of Cockermouth's Georgian Fair since its inception in 2005, bringing many other sides to the town to add to the colour and spirit of the events, and introduced Regency sides and maypole dancing with local children. We have made this our regular, biennial Day of Dance for invited guest sides, always endeavouring to invite as wide a range of morris traditions as possible.
